THUMB KNUCKLE / GOJO / IMOR AMOTH / COLLABORATIONS

THUMB KNUCKLE

Thumb Knuckle is the creative project that I’ve taken the most ownership over throughout my career and am the most proud of. I compose, arrange, and produce all Thumb Knuckle music at our Ridgewood based music studio, entirely embracing the DIY ethos of many NYC based musicians and bands that came before us.

“With a frenetic disposition best defined as experimental darkness meets obscene whimsy, Thumb Knuckle is the brainchild of Josh Eckert, Sam Rubin, and Will Hunersen. Hailing from the depths of New York City, the Brooklyn-based trio is the amalgamation of countless sonic influences from noise rock, to doom metal, to psychedelic improvisation and beyond.

Thumb Knuckle is as unclassifiable as it is unforgettable.”

GOJO

Aside from guitar music, I produce electronic music under the name GOJO, named after the long gone local video rental store in the town I grew up in. After first entering the world of digital music production in 2013 as a first year music undergraduate, I began spending more time on my electronic music productions in 2022 to further my skills as a sound designer and electronic music creator, producing downtempo electronic music emulating the likes of Four Tet, Bonobo, and Quantic.

Imor Amoth

Imor Amoth is an instrumental, guitar forward, post-rock project. It came to in 2017 with the Colour & Motion EP. I composed and produced the whole project myself at Newcastle University’s state-of-the-art music studio and played every instrument on the record except the drums, which were played by Gavin Christie of Callum Pitt and Lyras. This was the first production project of this level I undertook and remain incredibly proud of it.

Collaborations

Over many years, I’ve collaborated with many other musicians and producers to create music together. One of the more interesting and fruitful collaborations I worked on was with with Blade, The Dragon Mystic, a lo-fi hip hop producer. The two of us recorded a bunch of guitar improvisations and used them to make beats. We manipulated those recordings by reversing them and splicing parts together to create “Church Junkie,” which was released on their 2022 album.
